If you're one that craves control this option is for you ... just kidding! We think it's great that you want to pick out the contents of the gift box. This definitely makes it super unique. Since this is incredibly popular, we have some tricks up our sleeve to make sure everything goes smoothly.  

1. Add the "build your own" item to your cart. Super important!

2. ADD YOUR ITEMS!
Please select at least 4 items.
You can cruise through our entire website, but focus on smaller items, and ideally not too many heavy, fragile, or weird shaped items. You can check out the collection below of some items we suggest - but literally there are 1,000s of good options. The box is about the size of a shoe box (but a different shape), but it helps visualize. 
If an item does not fit or items don’t “play nice” with others, we may bump you to a different shipping box or contact you with suggestions.


3. CARD (OPTIONAL)
Pick out a specific card here, and in the notes before checkout, write what you’d like us to write inside.
Messages are handwritten, so please keep them short.

4. DOUBLE-CHECK YOUR ORDER
Before you check out, take a moment to review your gift box order:

• Did you add the “Build your own gift box” item to your cart?
• Do you have at least four items (not including the gift box itself)?
• Did you include a note for inside the card (if you added one)?

• For store pick-up:
 If you need your order same day or next day, please call the store after placing your order, or make a note at checkout so we can have it ready when you need it. Gift boxes take a bit longer to prepare.

Seasonally, we release pre-made themed gift boxes. You can see our current options available below. Please note that we keep counts of the pre-made boxes low, but have lots of inventory to create the gift boxes. If you are interested in more than what the website says we have available, just give our store a holler -- 802.497.0100 or hello@commondeer.com and we can up the inventory count. If you are interested in sending a bunch of gift boxes, let us know a bit more about your needs - we'd love to help!

Our team will custom build a gift box just for your recipient based on your description of the person, selecting items that look great together and fit inside the box nicely. We can make a box for just about any occasion or person!

Due to labor intensive logistics in creating these custom gift boxes, we are only able to offer this service at higher spend amounts (sorry!). If your budget doesn't quite fit, we recommend building your own or one of the pre-made gift boxes on offer. Please note that if you are sending more than 3 gift boxes, we have lower spend limits for custom builds (contact us).

Here's how to have us custom build a gift box for you.

1. It's easy! Just select the customized gift box option below.
2. OPTIONAL - add a greeting card! Pick out a specific card here.
3. At checkout in the cart there is an order notes section -- please describe the recipient - interests, age, gender, occasion, favorite animals, activities, allergies, etc. This is incredibly helpful to our team. Also, if you have general items in mind (candles, snacks, etc), please make a note, but we cannot always pull specific inventory items mentioned. Also in the notes, please write out your quick message for inside the card if you included one - Messages are handwritten, so please try to keep it on the short side.

Please note that custom builds can sometimes take an 3 - 5 days in handling.

** For pick-up, these custom box orders can sometimes only be fulfilled on certain days of the week. If you need your order for pick up same day or next day, we recommend building your own, or giving us a call to see what's possible in advance if you have a quick turnaround.
