Chloe Probst, owner and feature artist of Soleil Fine Art, is continuously inspired by her natural surroundings for her work, but also has a passion for decorative interior design. The 19th century poet and textile designer William Morris has had a significant influence on her growth and outlook. As Morris proclaimed, she believes you should "have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful". Along with beauty, she favors work that instills a sense of reflection and gratefulness for our awe-inspiring world.
Chloe paints in watercolor and embraces the delicate balance between chance and purpose that this medium tends to force upon its user. Textures evolve over time and colors bleed into each other in beautiful ways. It's the give and go with control that she loves most.
For her piece "Goin' Up", she painted the gondola at Stowe Mountain Resort with the backdrop of beautiful Mt. Mansfield. After living in Maryland, Colorado, Australia, and most recently Jackson Hole, Wyoming, she has settled in Stowe, Vermont and is constantly in awe of the landscape. In particular, she has noticed the mountains in Vermont are an astonishing array of blue shades and she has been painting them since the first day she arrived.
Chloe is a winner of Common Deer's 2019 call to artists for the "This is Vermont" print series, an anual art competion held by CD to celebrate Vermont based artists and our community.
