Laurel Waters is a Vermont landscape painter (oil) who draws her inspiration from connecting freely with nature, and the process of sharing that connection with her young daughter, Nelle. Being part of the greater Vermont community enables this process immensely AND authentically. Out of this gentle space of unfolding (as a parent and painter), colors and forms, fresh, surprising, and perhaps more honest, emerge on the canvas. Her use of rich color has always been the biggest signature feature in her work, which many find unusual in the medium of oil paint.
Laurel is a winner of Common Deer's 2019 call to artist for the "This is Vermont" print series, an anual art competion held by CD to celebrate Vermont based artists and our community.
