Little Miss Workbench
"I have always believed thoughtful play equals learning and it was always core to the classroom experience. Although my formal teaching career was put on hold when my daughter was born, a new form of teaching came about. For my first Mother’s Day (2012), my husband gave me what every new mommy dreams of having…a DeWalt portable table saw. The home-based woodworking projects I enjoyed building quickly evolved into creating wooden toys for my daughter. When friends saw the wooden toys, they asked if I would make pieces for their children and their friends. Soon I was creating small batches of toys and in 2015, I took my small idea and turned it into little miss workbench, inc." Prior to little miss workbench, Michelle Chiaramonte was a New York City public schoolteacher. Her thoughtfully crafted wooden toys focus on play through learning. Her team of artisans' goal is to create simple toys that "allow children to be curious about the world around them and focus on what sparks imaginative learning". All toys are handcrafted in New York using American hardwords and eco-friendly materials that are child-safe and natural.
